Hidden roots.

There is purpose in everything.

About 3 weeks ago, I was tending to my fiddle leaf plant. A friend had told me to cut off a pair of leaves that was at the lower end of plant. Before I did. I looked at a video on YouTube that shared on caring for the plant, and how to carefully propagate it.

So I decided to do just that. I said to myself , if it dies that’s fine. I was going to throw it away anyways.

I filled a glass with water and added the leaves with the tiny piece of stem attached to it.

After one week I saw nothing. The leaves remained the same , I changed the water and placed it back on my dinning table. My daughter asked a few times, “‘mummy what are doing with the plant?”

After some days even my husband mentioned he’s surprised it didn’t wilt. Two weeks ago, my daughter was looking at it and she said she saw something white. Having a closer look at it , I didn’t think too much I thought at first glance it’s just something released as the water needed to be changed again.

A few days later. That same white spot on the end of the stem showed to be a piece of root poking out. We were all shocked . I was beyond happy because that meant I get to save $500 . ( I paid $500 for the parent fiddle leaf plant)

Every day since then we’ve seen the roots get longer and longer. I was ready to transplant immediately , but from the care videos I looked at , it still needs time in the water.( patience is needed )

So this morning as I looked at how long they’ve gotten. The Holy Spirit started to speak to me saying ,” You didn’t see the roots, yet they were there. You didn’t know that from those two small looking leaves you could then get a whole new plant”.

How many of us are just like this? We feel insignificant, we feel like we have no purpose yet the Lord has called us to stand out. To be fruitful and multiply. To be transformed into something new.

The reason I removed the leaves from the parent plant was due the friend saying that it was pulling from the main leaves. I’m not “planty planty “ if you know what I mean. I love the appearance of plants. I love the greens . I grew up countryside as a child so I just love seeing plants and being in nature. The bush was our play ground . Anyways, I decided to take it off just in case it was really doing that.

Upon researching, it was quite the opposite. It said; Smaller leaves, especially near the bottom or on new growth, are common. As the plant matures, it prioritizes new leaves at the top, and older lower leaves may yellow or drop off which is normal.

I’ve seen the leaves drop. Listen, that plant has scared me many times and many times I thought the end was near. 😂

So the small leaves weren’t pulling from the main leaves. It’s not growing any bigger because it’s a reflection of the plant itself not managing its resources.

So where am I going with this?

Many in the body of Christ aren’t spiritually maturing because they’re not where they supposed to be. Though you were able to grow to a certain level under the leadership or care you’re in, it doesn’t mean that’s where you’re supposed to stay forever. If you’re not growing, If your roots aren’t poking out and beginning to grow in Christ, what are you doing? Where are you going?

It’s like saying. You’re in your mother’s womb, you’re safe and sound. Next you’re out in the world, difference from womb to now is you’re being held by her. You’re in her hands. Then you’re on her hip. After you begin to take steps, Ruwild and then the rest is , well you know.

Just like my planty , it needed to be separated. It’s been there for almost 2 years , I just didn’t want to do anything at the expense of losing the plant. I watered it. I cared for it, but it needed more.

We have to recognize when it’s time to make change. Put behind doubts, fear, and the “what if’s” and trust that God will bring you through. I didn’t expect it to work. But I still tried. And look at what happened.

It’s easy for humans to see what change other humans need to make, but can’t see what they need to do for themselves.

Being comfortable in a place, a season or a mindset hinders us. There is a time and season for everything, that’s the Bible.

So are you ready to be cut off? Are you ready to leave what has been sustaining for some time and move on your own? Are you ready to GROW up?

While the Bible says this,

“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
‭‭I Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

But it also say this;

“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The bottle you’re feeding from is no longer the food you need in this season. The table you’re eating at is no longer serving what your diet requires.

“So come on, let’s leave the preschool fingerpainting exercises on Christ and get on with the grand work of art. Grow up in Christ. The basic foundational truths are in place: turning your back on “salvation by self-help” and turning in trust toward God; baptismal instructions; laying on of hands; resurrection of the dead; eternal judgment. God helping us, we’ll stay true to all that. But there’s so much more. Let’s get on with it!”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Complacency has many in the body of Christ declaring We’re called to be chain breakers. I am a chain breaker, Yet they are asking for the chain to be lengthened. Lengthen it so I can have some relief. In Christ we have freedom. He is a chain breaker not a chain lengthener. Jesus didn’t come so the pressure could be released for just a time. He came to set captives free. COMPLETELY!!!

You are our own enemy at times . How? Because you’re complacent. Lazy ! You want everyone around you to change and put in work while you just lay there saying “ God is good”

He’s Good yes. But;

“For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You have roots that are waiting to sprout believe it or not. And if you allow those roots to grow in Christ, the kingdom of darkness has lost another one.

Many believe, many accept Christ as Lord, but still perish. Why? Because their faith is not genuine or rooted in a true relationship with Christ. They want and want and want , but won’t obey when God speaks. Scripture warns that simply calling Jesus “Lord” without obedience or intimacy with Him is not enough. A lack of true repentance—failing to turn away from sin—leaves a person separated from God. Many are led astray by a love for the world, prioritizing pleasure, status, or material things over devotion to Christ. Others fall away because their faith is shallow, unable to withstand trials or testing.

A hardened heart caused by ongoing sin and unbelief can lead someone to turn away from God entirely. False teachings and spiritual deception also pose serious dangers, drawing people away from truth. Likewise unforgiveness and a refusal to show mercy can block a person from receiving God’s forgiveness. Forgive and you shall be forgiven. 70 times 70. You may justify your stance by saying but they’re done this and that, but 70 times 70. We should be in repentance before the Lord daily.

We all fall short. It’s not just want we do but what we think. God hears the unspoken words to. Willful, deliberate sin after knowing the truth reveals a heart that has not been truly transformed. True saving faith produces repentance, endurance, spiritual growth, and a changed life empowered by the Holy Spirit.

So I’m here to tell you by the spirit of the Lord. Grow up. Don’t be afraid to detach. Don’t allow anyone to stifle what you were made to do and who you were made to be .

There is a lesson in everything. Holy Spirit is always eager to share something with you. He wants you free from shame and guilt. But he also wants you free from bitterness and envy , pride and covetousness.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Lord has raised us up at IAC to be like trumpets. Instruments in his hand with a purpose. Trumpets are loud. They’re annoying to most, but they signal an alarm. A warning. In revelation the angels didn’t blow a flute. Or play string of a harp. They sounded the trumpet.

Don’t be like these . Who wouldn’t listen.

“Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There’s a pull on you to yield, to grow up , to take root , to move out, to change lanes, to seek milk or solid food more than ever because the Lord wants to transform you. He wants to give you purpose beyond singing and clapping in church, beyond crying at the altar call.

HE WANTS YOU ROOTED.

You won’t survive the storms ahead if you’re positioned in Him or not rightly aligned.

I pray this revelation that came from my planty blesses you.

Shalom,

Reesha
