Jesus said ; this sickness is not unto death but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.
These words were prophetic , but Lazarus’ sisters didn’t know that just yet. Though it did not look that way, it was! Yes Lazarus was physically dead, but God was working . He had in plan in motion. They just need to trust and have faith.
How many things have you buried that the Lord is waiting to bring back?
After 4 days of being dead. The Lord called Lazarus out of the grave.
Think about how that moment was like to those sisters, the disciples and the others who gathered there that day.
I’m sure at first they were scared. Like whhhhat?!? But then they would have been filled with joy because come on, it’s Jesus . Anything is possible with him.
So in John 11:4 he spoke the word and then in John 11:40 he said it again. “ Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God”
I challenge you to go back to words that have been spoken to you by the Lord.
Luke 1:45 says ; Blessed is she who believed , for there will be a FULFILLMENT of those things which were told her from the Lord. (NKJV)
Another version says there will be a PERFORMANCE.
God is still in the business of saving, healing and delivering.
God is still on his throne.
He WANTS to help you, He WANTS to perform on your behalf .
Isaiah 43:7 – “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
- God says that He created people for His glory, emphasizing that the ultimate purpose of human life is to bring glory to God.
John 14:13 – “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
- Jesus is speaking to His disciples, saying that His actions will glorify the Father, and that the ultimate purpose of His work is to bring glory to God.
God loves doing things that bring glory to his name. He is the only one worthy to be glorified. When he gets the glory , those who are lost in this world have a chance to know that he is real and truly exists when we share our testimonies of how he spoke to us. How he healed and delivered us from situations. It gives hope to a dying world.
So another part of the challenge is then to take the words he’s spoken and ask him to breathe life back into it. Whatever would have happened that caused to you stop going at an idea, a business, a career path , know that if the Lord spoke to you about it, He WILL perfect It, He WILL complete what Jesus started in you, you just need to have faith. You need to step out in obedience.
I read recently that whenever you’re called to start something by the Lord, don’t wait until you’re ready , he gave you the go ahead, GO!!!! Run with it!
He will provide and supply all you need to complete it.
Reliance on self is not going to get you any way. Why?
Relying on oneself means placing trust and dependence on one’s own abilities, wisdom, and strength. It involves depending on personal effort, control, or understanding to navigate life and solve problems. This self-sufficiency can be seen as a form of pride, where the individual elevates their own judgment and capabilities above God’s guidance.
Proverbs 28:26 – “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.”
- This verse directly addresses the folly of self-reliance, contrasting it with the wisdom that comes from trusting in God.
Relying on the Lord means depending on God for wisdom, strength, provision, and guidance. It involves acknowledging our own limitations and trusting in God’s sovereignty and faithfulness to meet our needs. This reliance fosters humility and a deep sense of trust in God’s character, His plans, and His timing.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Don’t let the enemy intimidate you and cause you to abort that which the Lord has called you to do.
The Lord choose you!!!
He knows what you’re capable of and as long as you rely on Him, Your Strength will come from Him. You can do all things through Christ Jesus. Again God can do the impossible. You don’t even need a certain type or extent of qualifications when he calls you. You just need to be vessels that are readily available to be used by Him. All knowledge, wisdom and power is from Him.
You may seem to the natural eye one who doesn’t have a degree, or one who can’t even stand to speak before a crowd ( take Moses for example , remember how he was like Lord I stutter , don’t use me , use Aaron) God has a way of qualifying the disqualified. Trust Him. Let him take control.
So whether it’s been four days, four weeks, four months, four years or even 10 years, God can do the impossible .
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11, NIV)
God’s word will always accomplish the purpose for which he sent it.
So get out of your mind. Get out of self because you’ll only limit yourself. Get with God. Get back on the path and declare his words spoken over you. Declare His written word over your situations and watch as he Fulfills them above and beyond what you can image.
He is a God of second chances plus some more to be honest.
Lazarus was back and I’m sure in this second chance, he didn’t play. Though not much is spoken about him after his resurrection. We see later on,
“Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.” (John 12:1-2, NIV)
And then in John 12:9-11 we read where there was a threat to his life as the religious leaders wanted him dead as well as Jesus so as to silence the movement as many believed in Jesus after the miracle.
I added this info because I wanted to remind you that you will face opposition just as you did in the beginning of the thing the Lord called you to, but don’t let it discourage you.
When opposition comes to shut you down again, know that it’s because what you’re going to do will bring GLORY to the Lord’s name.
So humble yourself, seek his face daily. Ask him to lead and guide you and months from now or a year later you’ll look back in awe of what He has done.
I pray this encourages you to step out again. To speak life to the dry bones in the valley and allow the Holy Spirit to resurrect all the dead things in your life for the glory of Christ.
